| FIC: The Many Occupations of Percy Weasley |
[Jul. 26th, 2008|08:14 pm] |
Hey all! I'm back from Europe and (semi)recovered from the massive case of jetlag that unfortunately followed my otherwise brilliant trip. I returned to find that the reveals for the percy_ficathon had already gone up while I was away. The following fic was my contribution to that fic exchange. Enjoy!
Title: The Many Occupations of Percy Weasley (and How Neville Longbottom Suffered Through Every Single One) Author: Queen of the Castle Rating: R Pairing: Neville/Percy Word Count: ~35,400 Warnings: Sexual references Summary: From rampant speculation about his sexuality to emergency inter-continental travel in a wetsuit, Neville Longbottom has been through a lot since leaving Hogwarts. Percy Weasley has just happened to be there for most of it, much to Neville's dismay. Author's Notes: Gift for cat_goddess for the 2008 percy_ficathon.

| FIC: Death, Debts and Denials |
[Mar. 4th, 2008|01:17 pm] |
Title: Death, Debts and Denials Author: Queen of Castle Pairing: Snape/Draco Rating: NC-17 Warnings: Dubious consent, underage (Draco is 17), awkwardness, non-linearity. Summary: "I saved your life. You of all people should know that such generosity is never free." Word Count: ~4250 Author's Notes: Written for rakina for hpvalensmut. This fic is set pre-DH, so it doesn't really take into account the new canon (including all those pesky deaths). The non-linear style of writing was very new to me, so it posed a bit of a challenge.

| REC: An Exercise in Holding Hands |
[Feb. 16th, 2008|02:19 pm] |
TITLE: An Exercise in Holding Hands AUTHOR: ? ETA: noticeably RATING: R (contains dark themes/mild horror) PAIRING: Harry/Neville WORD COUNT: 4,300 SUMMARY: There's a weight on your shoulders, heavy and unrelenting, bearing down upon you until you gasp and collapse and can't breathe. Moving on is easy. Except when it isn't.
MY THOUGHTS: You might call me a little biased, because this fic was written for me for the hpvalensmut 2008 exchange. However, even if this hadn't been written specifically to suit my kinks, I would really have enjoyed the premise alone.
The fic is fairly short and is written in 2nd-person POV, but don't let that put you off. I don't generally like that style of writing myself, but here it was used so well that I honestly can't imagine wanting the fic to be written any other way. The style and pace are wonderful; it's simple and there's a perfect contrast between the angsty, the sweet and the disturbing moments.
As for the content itself, if you've ever wished there was a Harry/Neville post-war fic out there that was neither pure fluff nor incredibly dark and non-con, this is the fic for you. Harry and Neville are both jaded war veterans whose relationship is angsty and awkward and just a little bit angry. If you ignore the epilogue (as most of us do), this is the sort of situation that I could really buy as a follow-up to DH. |

| FIC: Letters in the Dead of Night |
[Jan. 18th, 2008|05:17 pm] |
I really should have posted this a few weeks back when the merry_smutmas reveals went up, but I've been incredibly distracted from the Harry Potter fandom the last couple of months, so I didn't get around to it until now. Hopefully now that my interest in the fandom's picked up again there'll be a few more fics on the way in the near future.
Title: Letters in the Dead of Night Author: Queen of the Castle Pairing: Dumbledore/Grindelwald Rating: NC-17 Warnings: Smut. Summary: It was lucky that Bathilda had found that particular letter. The correspondence that followed had been far less innocent. Word Count: ~5,500 Author Notes: Written for marksy for merry_smutmas. Thanks to my beta, Tabakat, for a wonderful job cleaning up the fic. Thanks also to Gina both for running Smutmas one last time and for helping me fix up a few last-minute issues (not to mention for putting up with my lateness).

| FIC: It Took Some Convincing |
[Sep. 24th, 2007|08:03 pm] |
Title: It Took Some Convincing Author: Queen of the Castle Rating: R Pairing: Harry/Remus, Harry/Severus, implied Harry/Remus/Severus, implied Remus/Tonks Warnings: Smut, voyeurism, exhibitionism, fleeting mentions of cross-dressing. Summary: Harry chooses a different path than the one expected of him. Only Sirius seems to really mind. Word Count: ~4,800 Author's Notes: Written just prior to DH for alisanne for the hp_summersmut fic exchange, so there's no spoilers here. In fact, I figured that since it would already be AU by the time it was posted, I might as well take it a little further in that direction, so there are very few spoilers from any of the most recent books.

| Apparently I asked for Remus/Mundungus as a gift. And someone actually wrote it. Who'da thunk it? |
[Aug. 25th, 2007|07:17 pm] |
Completely hilarious and borderline grotesque Remus/Mundungus fic? For me? Why yes, I'd be delighted.
I was just stunned at the sure knowledge that I'm not the only person to have ever written this pairing. And happy. So happy. Because I think that any writer who dares to take on Mundungus, of all people, realistically in a sexual situation must both really care about giving their recipient the gift they want and ... well, and have real effing guts, to be quite frank.
Also, I'm squeeful on my mystery author's behalf that I'm by far not the only person to give a favourable review. It's always a worry that people won't read fics with pairings like this, especially when they warn for dirty old man sex. ;-)
The hp_springsmut exchange may have been all over the place in posting due to the LJ debacle, and I may have had trouble getting my own submission done, but this totally made it all worth it. Check it out, even if it's against your best judgement; it's gut-wrenchingly funny. |

| REC: Carrying On (Percy/Snape) |
[Aug. 24th, 2007|01:57 pm] |
Title: Carrying On Author: Anonymous (written for the percy_ficathon) Pairing: Percy/Snape Rating: R Summary: When Percy looks back on this year, all he will say is "I did what I had to do."
Yes, I was sceptical when I saw the pairing as well. But to be perfectly honest, the pairing is really not the centre of the fic. Furthermore, the snippets of Percy and Snape's interaction that are shown strike me as utterly perfect; here we see two men who are necessarily separated from the rest of the wizarding world finding shared comfort. It's not an overly tender or fluffy fic (though it was, at times, almost heart-wrenching). I think that's what makes it strikingly realistic.
And the characterisation of Percy. Oh, Percy. I've rarely read any version of Percy in fanfic that rings so perfectly true. There was not a moment that I doubted that he would be doing/thinking/feeling/saying exactly what he had in the fic.
The real reason this fic will stay with me, though (apart from, of course, the wonderfully brisk style of writing), is the way each missing scene draws on the details of DH and slots so seemlessly into canon that I have to forcefully remind myself that this is not canon. I really wish it was. After all, don't we all think that DH could have done with more Percy and Snape? |

[Aug. 15th, 2007|12:03 am] |
Title: A House of His Own; a Prison of His Own Making Author: Queen of the Castle Rating: NC-17 Pairings: Harry/Sirius Warnings: Graphic sex, non-con, breath play and general darkness. Summary: A house of his own? A godfather to share it with? It’s all Harry ever really wanted. But when it becomes a reality, Harry is forced to decide just how much he wants it. Word Count: ~3,600 Author's Notes: Written because Sirius was just a little bit too well-adjusted in the OotP film, thank you very much.

| FIC: Slowly Dying Embers |
[Aug. 14th, 2007|11:46 pm] |
Title: Slowly Dying Embers Author: Queen of the Castle Pairing: Remus/Florean Fortescue Rating: NC-17 Kinks: Food smut, first time. Challenge: The Lusty Month of May Marathon 2007. Word Count: ~9,000. Summary: In which Remus learns that some things wilt over time, while others die suddenly before they have that chance. Author's Notes: Written for the pervy_werewolf Lusty Month of May Marathon 2007. Just as a point of interest ... I know that hardly anyone will read this fic because of the pairing, but even knowing that, it was telling myself that I couldn't post this until the 31st that kept me going in this fest. This fic took my muse hostage and damanded my heart as the ransom. It now thoroughly owns me.
